Job summary

Paylocity is seeking an experienced embedded software engineer to design, implement, test, and maintain the Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) package for robotics clients. You will participate in the full software life cycle, coding in C/C++ for embedded processors, and collaborating with a team to meet project requirements.

The role requires 3+ years in embedded, real-time software, experience with device drivers, unmanned vehicle architectures, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, CS, or CE; Master's preferred.
• 3+ years embedded real-time C software experience.
• Experience with device drivers for embedded systems.
• Experience with unmanned vehicle systems or architectures.
• Knowledge of flash programming tools and configuration management.
• Familiarity with CAN, TCP, UDP, serial protocols.
• Experience across the full software development lifecycle.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Description

Design, implement, test, and maintain Autonomous Solution's Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) package to meet client needs and advance robotics technologies. VCU software engineers participate in the full life cycle of software and/or hardware development and help determine project architecture and requirements. Design, implement and test the embedded software on-board the vehicle to meet client needs including the vehicle control unit, programmable actuators and the environmental perception software algorithms.

Essential Education, Work Experience, and Job Skills

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or other related degree. Master's degree preferred
• 3+ years professional experience designing and implementing embedded, real-time software systems using C for embedded processors
• Experience developing device drivers for embedded systems
• Experience with unmanned vehicle systems, software, and/or architectures
• Knowledge of flash programming tools, configuration management systems and software development processes.
• Knowledge and experience in communication protocols implementation (TCP, UDP, serial, CAN)
• Familiarity with electrical and mechanical systems
• Experience in all phases of the software development lifecycle–gathering requirements, design, implementation, testing, debugging, and deployment to the end user
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
