Job summary

Vivint Smart Home, an NRG Energy company, is seeking an experienced automation engineer to design, develop, and maintain Python tests for API, UI, and system-level scenarios across panels and peripherals.

The role involves collaborating with panel software engineers, QA, hardware teams, and product groups to deliver secure and reliable smart home experiences. You will also drive test automation, reduce flaky tests, and contribute to shared automation frameworks.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of professional embedded test automation experience.
• 3+ years of Python experience.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
• Excellent communication and cross-functional teamwork skills.
• Experience using AI tools for software design, development, and review.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain Python automated tests for API, UI, and system-level scenarios.
• Review manual tests and identify automation candidates.
• Debug test failures and reduce flaky tests.
• Participate in code reviews and follow automation best practices.
• Collaborate with developers, hardware and QA teams on integration and troubleshooting.
• Develop and maintain automated unit and functional tests.
