Job summary

MSA Safety is seeking a Software Verification and Test Automation Engineer to shape product quality from requirements to release. You will develop automated tests for embedded software, improve test tooling, and work with cross-functional teams across locations including Pittsburgh, PA, to ensure safety-critical systems meet rigorous standards.

You will apply Python scripting, test automation, and CI tools while collaborating with hardware and software teams to deliver high-quality safety

Qualifications

• Understanding of the Software Development Life Cycle.
• Experience supporting embedded product development.
• Strong Python scripting skills.
• Experience in developing test cases, test harnesses, and test scripts.
• Experience in developing test automation in an embedded environment.
• Understanding testing methodologies: Unit, Integration, Regression, System, Performance.
• Experience using version control and collaboration tools (Git/Jira/Confluence).
• Experience with CI tools (Bamboo/Jenkins/Travis).
• Experience with software quality metrics.
• Passion for software development quality and continuous improvement.
• Strong communication skills in a global, multicultural team.

Responsibilities

• Develop a deep understanding of product behavior to guide verification and engineering decisions.
• Review requirements and architecture to define verification strategies and ensure testability.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated tests for embedded software across levels.
• Maintain and improve test automation systems and tooling; perform manual testing when needed.
• Participate in code reviews and work with developers to resolve issues.
• Analyze and communicate test results, quality data, and risks to guide product development.
• Travel domestically or internationally up to 10% as needed.
