Job summary

Wabtec Corporation in Germantown, MD is seeking an early-career Software Test Engineer II with at least two years in embedded systems and software validation. You will perform manual and automated testing, support hardware/software integration, and develop test documentation and automation solutions.

The role emphasizes following approved validation processes, collaborating with developers and stakeholders, and contributing to test automation to improve coverage.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or equivalent.
• Minimum of two years of software testing, embedded systems, or related field.
• Understanding of electronic control systems, and hardware/software integration.
• Ability to manage testing activities while adapting to changing priorities and schedules.
• Hands-on experience testing and debugging software, and/or hardware-based systems.
• Practical experience using Python for testing, debugging, or automation.
• Experience with Microsoft Windows operating systems.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts clearly and concisely.

Responsibilities

• Review and analyze system and software requirements for testability.
• Develop detailed test plans and test procedures under senior guidance.
• Create and maintain test cases with complete requirements traceability.
• Perform manual and automated testing of embedded software.
• Document results and produce clear, comprehensive test reports.
• Maintain effective communication with peers, developers, and stakeholders.
• Assist with laboratory equipment setup, tracking, organization, and maintenance.
• Contribute to the development and maintenance of test automation solutions to improve test coverage and efficiency.
• Follow company policies, engineering standards, safety requirements, and approved validation processes throughout all assigned activities.
