Austin Sensing Company is hiring an Embedded Systems Engineer to develop firmware for our sensing hardware in Austin, Texas. You’ll own board bring-up, peripheral configuration, and driver development across our radar, RF, and sensor products.

You’ll collaborate with electrical, RF, FPGA, and software engineers to take systems from bring-up to production and deployment, applying robust debugging and testing practices.

Qualifications

• Experience developing embedded firmware or software for deployed hardware products.
• Proficiency in C or C++ and familiarity with Python for testing and automation.
• Strong understanding of microcontrollers, processors, interrupts, memory, and peripheral interfaces.
• Experience with bare-metal development, real-time operating systems, or embedded Linux.
• Hands-on board bring-up and debugging skills using JTAG/SWD debuggers, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Experience diagnosing problems across firmware, hardware, and communications.
• Familiarity with version control, automated builds, and software testing.
• Clear technical communication and attention to reliability and maintainability.

Responsabilités

• Develop embedded firmware and software for microcontrollers and processors across our sensing products.
• Bring up new boards, configure peripherals, and develop drivers.
• Implement sensor control, data acquisition, and communications between hardware and application software.
• Build interfaces using protocols such as SPI, I²C, UART, CAN, and Ethernet.
• Develop reliable startup, configuration, fault handling, and recovery behavior.
• Implement firmware updates, diagnostics, and system health monitoring for deployed devices.
• Debug issues involving interrupts, timing, memory, communications, and hardware interactions.
• Optimize software for compute, memory, power, and latency requirements.
• Build automated tests and tools for hardware validation, production testing, and field troubleshooting.
• Document interfaces and system behavior, and use field feedback to improve reliability.
