Job summary

The Amatriot Group in Crane, IN is seeking a mid-level Computer Engineer to support the Office of Naval Research (ONR) within the Department of Defense. You will perform hands-on work across embedded software, firmware, microcontrollers, robotics platforms, and hardware/software integration to deliver prototype systems.

The role emphasizes fast-paced prototyping, live test support, and clear technical communication to government stakeholders.

Qualifications

ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
At least 3 years of engineering experience.
Experience with embedded systems, firmware, robotics, or hardware/software integration.
Experience with microcontrollers and single-board computers.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and test firmware and embedded C for microcontrollers and SBCs.
Develop software for microcontroller architectures such as RP2040 or similar platforms.
Implement I2C, SPI, UART, and Ethernet interfaces for sensor and hardware communication.
Develop software for autonomy, control algorithms, and robotics systems.
Use ROS to integrate software with hardware components.
Support rapid prototyping and test events with cross-disciplinary teams.
Prepare technical briefs, data packages, and installation/test plans.
Travel to CONUS locations for live test events and evaluations.
