Job summary

Vale Concepts in Seattle is seeking an Embedded Systems Engineer to design and develop embedded hardware and software for its automated systems. This role requires a passion for innovation and a collaborative spirit, as you will bridge the gap between silicon and application layer.

The ideal candidate will have 4+ years in embedded systems and be proficient in C/C++. Compensation ranges from $118,000 to $155,000 per year along with various benefits including medical, dental, vision, and annual bonuses.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of embedded systems development experience.
• Legally authorized to work in the United States.
• Familiarity with Linux-based embedded systems (Yocto, Buildroot) is a plus.

The role

As an Embedded Systems Engineer, you will design and develop the embedded hardware and software that powers Vale's automated systems, bridging the gap between silicon and the application layer.

• Design and implement embedded hardware and software co-development for Vale's devices
• Develop BSPs and firmware for custom hardware platforms
• Optimize embedded systems for power consumption, memory footprint, and real-time performance
• Integrate wireless communication protocols (BLE, Wi‑Fi, or cellular) into Vale's devices
• Collaborate on schematic review and PCB bring‑up with Electrical Engineering
• Write comprehensive tests for embedded systems from unit to system level
• Document embedded system architecture, APIs, and configuration

Qualifications

• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• 4+ years of embedded systems development experience
• Proficiency in C/C++ and familiarity with both bare‑metal and RTOS-based environments
• Experience with wireless connectivity protocols and IoT architectures
• Ability to read schematics and comfort working closely with hardware engineers during bring‑up
• Experience with Linux-based embedded systems (Yocto, Buildroot) a plus

Compensation

$118,000 – $155,000 per year
