Job summary

Wabtec is seeking a Manager, Software Engineering - Embedded System Architecture in the Evident Inspection Technologies division, based onsite in Waltham, MA. You will own end-to-end software architecture for embedded Qt-based applications and lead a cross-functional team to design scalable, robust systems.

The role requires 10+ years in software with 5+ years managing teams, strong C++/Qt/QML expertise, and solid embedded Linux experience.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
10+ years of professional experience with at least 5+ years managing a team of software engineers.
7+ years in C++, Qt/QML, and full-stack embedded application development.
Strong background in embedded Linux development.
3+ yrs with technical management of software projects from design to deployment.
Experience prioritizing tasks in an agile environment.
Ability to design and develop system architecture with maintainable designs.

Responsibilities

Own end-to-end software architecture for embedded Qt-based applications.
Develop and maintain system designs, APIs, interface specifications, and design documentation.
Establish scalable, modular frameworks for complex embedded systems.
Drive adoption of modern design patterns, testability, maintainability, and performance optimization.
Lead integration of software and hardware components into embedded Linux and ensure robust inter-component communication.
Support CI/CD pipelines, build automation, and OTA update systems.
