Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA, is seeking a Graduate Embedded Software Engineer Intern to support the Cyberspace & Mission Technology Department. This full-time, on-site role offers hands-on experience developing embedded software for space systems and working with cutting-edge hardware platforms.

Ideal candidates are graduate students in EE/CS with strong C/C++ and Python skills, experience with FPGA/ASIC toolchains, and a drive to contribute to secure, high-performance computing

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled full-time in a graduate degree program in electrical engineering, computer engineering, or computer science.
• Available to work full-time for at least 10 weeks and return to a degree program after completion.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Proficiency in embedded systems design and development, or edge AI/ML.
• Proficiency in at least two of: C, C++, Python, SystemVerilog/VHDL/HLS.
• Experience with hardware platforms and tool suites such as AMD/Xilinx, Altera, Microchip, ST Microelectronics.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software solutions for evaluating novel processors and on-board processing systems.
• Prototype and test embedded software on Linux-based SoCs, embedded GPUs, FPGAs, accelerators, MCUs.
• Design and optimize algorithms for low SWaP in image, signal processing, and AI/ML tasks.
• Collaborate with Aerospace scientists to assess radiation susceptibility and mitigations.
• Present project status and technical findings to team and customers.
• Learn and grow through trainings and mentorship from experienced staff.
