Job summary

The Aerospace Corporation in El Segundo, CA is seeking a Graduate Embedded Software Engineer Intern in the Cyberspace & Mission Technology Department. This full-time, on-site position supports cutting-edge embedded software initiatives for space systems and defense customers.

You will prototype, test, and optimize software on diverse hardware, collaborate across teams, and grow with mentorship and trainings while pursuing a graduate degree.

Qualifications

• Enrolled full-time in a graduate program in electrical/computer engineering or computer science.
• Availability to work full-time for a minimum of 10 weeks and return to studies afterward.
• Minimum GPA of 3.0.
• Experience with embedded systems design and development or edge AI/ML.
• Proficiency in at least two of the listed languages: C, C++, Python.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software solutions for evaluating novel processors and on‑board systems.
• Prototype and test embedded software on Linux-based SoCs, embedded GPUs, FPGAs, accelerators, and microcontrollers.
• Design and optimize algorithms for low SWaP embedded implementations in image, signal processing, and AI/ML domains.
• Assess radiation susceptibility of embedded processors and develop mitigations with Aerospace scientists.
• Present project status, technical findings, and demonstrations to team and customers.
• Learn and grow through trainings and mentorship from experienced staff.
