Job summary

Radiance Technologies, Inc. is looking for an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to support its Microelectronics Technology Operation. The ideal candidate will have at least 8 years of experience developing embedded systems and proficiency in C programming. A B.S. or higher in Electrical or Computer Engineering is required, along with the ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Job description

Radiance Technologies is a rapidly growing employee‑owned company seeking an Embedded Software/Firmware Engineer to support its Microelectronics Technology Operation (MTO). The role involves the design, development, and testing of embedded software for secure microelectronics and weapons‑system electronics, working closely with hardware engineers to turn prototypes into deployable solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software and firmware for commercial processors, SoCs, GPUs, FPGAs, and ASICs, covering all stages from ideation to production acceptance.
• Collaborate with hardware design engineers to integrate custom embedded hardware prototypes and mature them into production‑ready solutions.
• Execute embedded debugging, emulation, and real‑time operating system support for real‑time OS, embedded Linux or bare‑metal environments.
• Author software development plans, design documentation, and technical reports for customers and internal stakeholders.
• Mentor junior technical personnel and provide guidance on best practices.

Qualifications

• B.S. or higher in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related technical field with 8+ years of direct experience developing embedded systems.
• Proficiency in C programming at an advanced or expert level.
• Experience reading schematics and hardware interface design.
• Knowledge of HDL (VHDL and/or Verilog) and IP design for ASIC and FPGA projects.
• Strong debugging and emulation skills in real‑time OS, embedded Linux, or bare‑metal platforms.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.

Desirable Qualifications / Skills

• Advanced degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or relevant field with 20+ years of experience.
• Active Top Secret clearance.
• Demonstrated experience as technical lead or architect for embedded projects, including conceptualizing solutions and defining requirements.
• Experience with system security architectures, cryptographic implementation, roots of security, or secure boot.
• Entrepreneurial mindset and ability to propose new ideas, processes, tools, and solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce reports, technical documentation, and guidance.

Work Location

In‑person, Huntsville, AL (with occasional travel as needed).
