Job summary

AUSGAR Technologies, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer to join our DoD contractor team in San Diego. You will work on rapid prototyping of ocean systems, delivering robust embedded firmware and software across multiple disciplines.

Ideal candidates have deep experience with firmware design, Linux environments, and ROS 2, and hold or can obtain a security clearance. The role emphasizes collaboration, documentation, and rigorous testing and demonstrations.

Qualifications

• Active secret clearance preferred or ability to obtain one.
• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering or other STEM field.
• 5+ years of development and integration experience across listed platforms.
• Experience with Linux application software and kernel/OS (Yocto, Buildroot).
• Proficiency in C and software version control (Git).
• Familiarity with embedded protocols (SPI, RS-232, Ethernet) and test equipment.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with team to identify firmware/software requirements and approaches.
• Architect and design embedded firmware/software platforms and build/test processes.
• Implement, test, and verify firmware/software to meet project requirements.
• Develop and maintain engineering docs, ICDs and SRS.
• Communicate across engineering to coordinate development and changes.
