Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks anEmbedded Software Development Engineer to design and implement embedded software for satellite and ground systems. You will work on fault‑tolerant, real‑time platforms alongside hardware teams to deliver secure, high‑performance solutions in a dynamic space environment.

Responsibilities include driver development, board bring‑up, and Yocto/OpenEmbedded image creation, with close collaboration across software and hardware domains.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of embedded firmware development experience.
• 3+ years of non‑internship software development experience.
• 2+ years of Yocto/OpenEmbedded or a comparable embedded Linux build system.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software in C, C++, and Python, and Linux kernel drivers.
• Write device drivers and system applications for the various satellite systems.
• Write software to interact with micro-controls.
• Develop and maintain Linux kernel drivers and device-tree overlays for SPI, I3C, I2C, CAN, GPIO, DMA and UIO interfaces.
• Work closely with other software and hardware teams to support board bring-up and integration testing.
• Build and maintain the Yocto/OpenEmbedded distribution: BitBake recipes and layers, A/B partition boot, secure boot, eMMC and NOR storage, and SWUpdate image generation.
• Leverage modern application frameworks for Embedded Linux and bare-metal/AMP platforms to develop scalable, modular, and high-performance software.
• Debug and resolve complex hardware-software integration issues using tools like logic analyzers and oscilloscopes.
• Develop kernel features required to support upcoming hardware and software capabilities, targeting AMD/Xilinx Versal and Zynq SoCs.
