Job summary

Rantec Power Systems, Inc. is seeking a Software Engineer in California to design, develop and test embedded software for power supply control.

You will support both production and new development efforts, including design reviews and documentation tasks, while reading schematics and CAD-ing digital circuits. The role requires a strong background in C/assembly, real-time embedded systems, and hands-on experience with Altium CAD tools, as well as familiarity with DO-178B/C standards in aerospace

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Electrical Engineering (or similar).
• 5 years’ related experience preferred.
• Experience with C and assembly programming.
• Strong understanding of real-time embedded systems and low‑level firmware.
• Experience with 8 and 16‑bit embedded programming.
• Preferred experience with Atmel and Texas Instruments microcontroller families.
• Experience with electronics laboratory equipment, especially protocol analyzers.
• Experience reading electrical schematics.
• Experience with Windows and Linux.
• Exposure to aerospace domain standards such as DO-178B/C preferred.
• Understanding of Software Configuration Management practices and tools: git (preferred).
• Experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
• Sound reasoning skills in risk assessment and failure analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop new embedded software products for power supply control, implementing modern software design principles and providing innovative solutions.
• Test software integration on development hardware.
• Perform detailed software design activities and present at design reviews.
• Provide technical assessment of software used on development programs.
• Develop tests to verify software performance and troubleshoot challenges.
• Document developed code and tools used to support projects.
• Read and design digital circuits using CAD tools (Altium preferred).
• Collaborate in internal software component reviews.
