Job summary

Leonardo DRS Naval Power Systems seeks an Embedded Software Engineer with 2-5 years of experience to support design, development, and test of power conversion system products, from programmable relays to large electric drives and multi-megawatt cabinets up to 15kV. The role involves requirements analysis, architecture design, development of large embedded subsystems, and cross-functional collaboration.

Proficiency in C/C++, RTOS, DSP, and Python is expected, with DoD-level quality and security

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Computer Science with emphasis on C/C++, or equivalent education and experience.
• Embedded Software Engineer with 2-5 years of experience developing moderately complex real-time embedded software, with knowledge in DSP, RTOS, and C/C++ programming.
• Demonstrated capabilities in design, development, and testing of embedded software products for high-reliability environments.
• Strong foundation in standard software development processes and configuration management.
• Self-starter who can take significant design responsibility and defend their work.
• Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

• Analyze customer requirements and translate them into internal software requirements.
• Design and develop efficient embedded software architectures to support requirements.
• Design, implement, test, and integrate large embedded software subsystems.
• Coordinate software requirements-based test and system test activities.
• Use Python for scripting and automation tasks.
• Provide ongoing maintenance support for released software.
