Job summary

Zepto Life Technology, Inc. (Zepto) seeks an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to lead the design, development, and lifecycle management of embedded firmware for our molecular diagnostic instrumentation.

This role serves as the technical owner of the instrument's embedded software platform, developing firmware that controls hardware operation, processes data, manages workflows, and enables communication with higher-level software applications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
• Minimum five (5) years of professional experience designing electronic hardware.
• Strong proficiency in C and C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience developing firmware for microcontrollers, processors, or embedded Linux platforms.
• Experience with debugging tools and multithreaded RTOS environments.
• Experience using Git or other source code management systems.

Responsibilities

• Own embedded software and firmware architecture for Zepto's GMR diagnostic platform.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain embedded firmware supporting instrument operation and control.
• Develop low-level device drivers and HALs for sensors, processors, peripherals, and communication interfaces.
• Design firmware architecture that is scalable, maintainable, and compliant with medical device software development practices.
• Define instrument workflows, state machines, and timing logic.
• Develop firmware for startup, calibration, diagnostics, assay execution, and shutdown.
• Optimize data acquisition, buffering, validation, and communication with application software.
• Collaborate with software and hardware teams to define APIs and interfaces.
• Assist hardware bring-up and system integration with Senior Electrical Systems Engineer.
• Implement firmware for GMR sensor data acquisition and signal processing.
• Troubleshoot issues using scopes and debuggers; perform root cause analysis.
• Conduct unit, integration, and system testing; maintain design documentation.
• Support software risk management, FDA DHF, and lifecycle documentation.
