Job summary

Punch Through is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer Intern in Minneapolis, MN. You will contribute to embedded software for connected products, gaining hands-on experience on projects from proofs of concept to larger development efforts while in school and summer.

The role is hybrid with in-office days on Tuesdays and Wednesdays; you can start part-time in spring and move to full-time in the summer. We value curiosity, grit, and a passion for learning.

Qualifications

• Sophomore or junior pursuing a Bachelor's degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, computer science or similar with embedded emphasis.
• Intern for a minimum of a full year before undergraduate graduation.
• Commit to 40 hours/week during summer and 15-20 hours/week during school.
• Clear communication of complex ideas.
• Experience with C and embedded development for microcontrollers.
• Experience with Git-driven team software development.
• Experience with Python and BLE or wireless protocols.
• Familiar with Agile processes and client interactions.
• Experience debugging hardware with tools like logic analyzers or oscilloscopes.

Responsibilities

• Develop embedded software for connected products.
• Learn new engineering topics and solve problems.
• Contribute to and review architecture design for embedded projects.
• Deliver status updates to clients’ engineers and stakeholders.
• Contribute to design and product requirement specifications.
• Demonstrate independence while seeking guidance when needed.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of best practices within the team.
• Support Punch Through culture by being proactive and collaborative.
