Job summary

You will write production C++ on real-time and embedded systems, close to sensors, actuators, and compute the machines rely on, while collaborating across perception and guidance, navigation, and control domains. You will validate software on real hardware in the lab and in the field and grow ownership of embedded subsystems over time

Qualifications

As an Embedded Software Engineer III, you will build the embedded software that runs ASI's autonomous vehicles. You write production C++ on real-time and embedded systems, close to the sensors, actuators, and compute our machines depend on. Your focus is embedded, and you also work across adjacent software domains like perception and guidance, navigation, and control as the work demands. You validate your software on real hardware in the lab and in the field, and you grow your ownership over time. You work on the Advanced Prototype team, where the systems are early and there is room to shape them.

Responsibilities

• Build embedded software for ASI's autonomous vehicles.
• Write production C++ for real-time and embedded systems.
• Integrate software with sensors, actuators, and vehicle hardware.
• Work across adjacent domains like perception and GNC as the work demands.
• Validate and debug software on real hardware in the lab and field.
• Implement features from design through testing and deployment.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and other teams to deliver.
• Grow your ownership of embedded subsystems as you develop.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's in computer science, computer or electrical engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• Solid C++ software engineering for real-time or embedded systems.
• 5+ years of experience with embedded software running close to hardware.
• Ships production software from design through testing.
• Willingness to work across adjacent software domains (perception, GNC, or similar).
• Comfort debugging software running against real hardware.
• Collaborates well and takes direction through code review.
• Exposure to robotics, autonomy, or hardware-in-the-loop systems is a plus.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to remain in a stationary position at a computer workstation for extended periods.
• Ability to operate a computer and other office productivity equipment continuously.
• Ability to communicate and exchange information in person, via phone, and through electronic means.
• Ability to traverse office, lab, data center, and field environments as required.
• Ability to work in lab, prototype, and outdoor field environments around vehicles and equipment.
