Job summary

ITW is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer responsible for design, development, testing, and support of embedded software for existing and new products. You will bring up new hardware, integrate software with microcontrollers, memory, and interfaces, and lead debugging across multiple phases.

The role requires hands-on engineering, strong analytical skills, and ability to work independently while collaborating with cross-functional teams, manufacturing, and customers.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Software, Electrical, Computer) required.
• Minimum of 4 years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in embedded programming languages (C/C++), Git, and RTOS (FreeRTOS/MQX).
• Strong hardware/software integration and system-level design.
• Ability to work independently across design, coding, testing, debugging, implementation, and documentation phases.
• Experience with new board bring-up and debugging on prototype hardware.
• Experience with JTAG, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and serial/protocol analysis tools.

Responsibilities

• Develop, code, test, and debug embedded software for products and customers.
• Design and modify software applications from specifications with limited guidance.
• Bring up embedded software on new hardware platforms and verify MCUs, memory, clocks, interrupts and interfaces.
• Develop and debug low-level drivers and BSPs for UART, SPI, I2C, USB, Ethernet, GPIO.
• Coordinate cross-functional activities and document designs and analyses.
• Support manufacturing, field teams, and customer applications as needed.
