Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Developer to support mission systems development at NSWC Crane in Crane, IN. The role focuses on embedded and Linux-based software for airborne surveillance and C5ISR platforms, with DoD program experience valued to deliver warfighter capabilities.

You will design, integrate, and test software across the full SDLC, collaborating with systems and hardware engineers and government stakeholders, and ensuring robust documentation and configuration management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • 2 years of professional software development experience.
  • Proficiency in Linux-based development environments.
  • Strong programming skills in C, C++, Java, and/or Python.
  • Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN).
  • Must be local to or willing to relocate to Crane, Indiana; on-site at NSWC Crane.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, integrate, and test software for embedded and mission systems.
  • Develop in Linux environments, including RTOS and embedded Linux.
  • Integrate sensors, radar, and communications into mission system architectures.
  • Enable data gathering, fusion, and transmission for surveillance data during flight.
  • Participate in the full SDLC: requirements, design, coding, tests, docs.
  • Collaborate with systems/hardware teams and government stakeholders.
  • Support builds, configuration management, and version control (Git/Jenkins).
  • Develop in C, C++, Java, and/or Python in Linux environments.
  • Produce technical documentation: SDDs, ICDs, test procedures per DoD standards.
