Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Software Developer to support mission systems software development at NSWC Crane. The role focuses on embedded C/C++ in Linux environments for airborne surveillance platforms.

The ideal candidate has DoD/DoN program experience, strong Linux skills, and is prepared for on-site work in Crane, Indiana. U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a Secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field (CS/Software/EE)
• 2 years of professional software development experience
• U.S. citizenship required
• Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance (SAIC sponsorship available)
• Proficiency with Linux-based development environments
• Strong programming skills in C, C++, Java, and/or Python
• Experience with version control systems (Git, SVN, or equivalent)
• Experience with Jira
• Familiarity with software integration and testing methodologies
• Must be local to or willing to relocate to Crane, Indiana (on-site)

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test software components for embedded and mission systems supporting airborne C5ISR platforms
• Develop and maintain software in Linux environments, including RTOS and embedded Linux
• Support integration of sensors, radar systems, and communications into unified architectures
• Help enable aircrew to gather, process, fuse, and transmit surveillance data
• Participate in full SDLC activities: requirements, design, coding, tests, and documentation
• Collaborate with systems/hardware engineers and government stakeholders to define interfaces and data links
• Support software builds, configuration management, and version control (Git, Jenkins, CI/CD pipelines)
• Develop in languages including C, C++, Java, and/or Python under Linux
• Troubleshoot and resolve defects during lab, ground, and flight tests
• Produce documentation: SDDs, ICDs, and test procedures per DoD standards (MIL-STD-498, DI-IPSC)
• Participate in program reviews, TIMs, and design reviews (PDR/CDR)
