Job summary

SAIC’s Computer Engineer position in Crane, IN is seeking a professional to design, develop, test, and sustain mission-critical software and firmware for EW and tactical systems. You will work across the full software lifecycle from architecture through field testing.

Requirements include 3+ years of software engineering experience and proficiency in Python, C, C++, or Java, plus the ability to obtain a Secret clearance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer, Software or a related technical discipline.
• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience designing, coding, integrating, and maintaining software in a structured environment, with proficiency in Python, C, C++, or Java.
• Proven capability to analyze requirements, perform system-level testing (unit, integration, and IV&V), troubleshoot integrated systems in laboratory environments, and manage git-based version control.
• Strong cross-functional communication skills to collaborate across systems, test, and cybersecurity teams
• Required U.S. Citizenship and the ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, modernize, and sustain computer software, firmware, algorithms, and applications supporting EW and tactical mission systems across the full software lifecycle.
• Analyze and develop system requirements, performing validation, traceability, risk assessments, and mitigation planning from initial design to final acceptance criteria.
• Execute comprehensive testing—including unit, integration, regression, automated, and IV&V—while maintaining strict traceability between requirements, test procedures, and documented results.
• Troubleshoot, maintain, and optimize systems to resolve defects, address cybersecurity vulnerabilities, manage Git-based configurations, and support integration into secure cloud and mission networks.
