A technology-focused engineering organization is seeking a robotic software engineer to design and integrate complex autonomy and vehicle intelligence systems across hardware and software environments. The team develops and deploys autonomous flight capabilities for unmanned aerial vehicles supporting demanding defense applications.
This role offers the opportunity to work across the full software development lifecycle, including C++ development, hardware integration, embedded Linux deployment, systems testing, flight testing, troubleshooting, and customer demonstrations. Engineers collaborate with autonomy, robotics, software, hardware, and flight-test specialists to deliver reliable autonomous systems operating in real-world environments.
Software engineers in this role develop and integrate modular autonomy capabilities across a range of defense applications, deploying software onto embedded Linux systems and unmanned aerial vehicle platforms.
Engineers integrate autonomy software with aircraft autopilots, datalinks, sensors, PNT, GPS, INS, ground control stations, and other vehicle hardware. They also interface with third-party UAV manufacturers to integrate autonomy software onto OEM platforms.
Additional responsibilities include developing C++ software, integrating sensors, collecting data, troubleshooting hardware and software issues, and validating systems through software-in-the-loop, hardware-in-the-loop, and live flight-test environments.
Engineers also support flight testing across Group 1 to Group 5 UAVs, implement service-oriented architectures and inter-process messaging systems, and work directly with customers and operational experts during system integration and demonstrations.
