Job summary

Akkodis is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer in Rochester, NY to join our Sigma software platform development. The role focuses on building and enhancing secure real-time communications applications, primarily in C++, within an Agile environment. A Bachelor's degree and at least two years of related experience are required.

You will design, implement, and test components for VoIP and RoIP, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to a robust software framework.

Qualifications

  • Understanding of OOD and architecture.
  • Experience with FreeBSD/Linux/Unix.

Responsibilities

  • Work primarily in C++, with other languages as needed.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking a Embedded Software Engineer job with a client in Rochester NY. Must hold an Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields to be considered. In this position, you will be creating and enhancing solutions that power critical communications around the world. You will join the development team for our Sigma software platform.

Salary Range: $65k. to $80/k. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Embedded Software Engineer responsibilities include:

  • Working in a team environment, you will help architect, design, develop and support applications that provide secure real-time voice, video, and chat communication capabilities.
  • You will be designing and implementing applications used for secure real-time communications (including Voice over IP (VoIP) and Radio over IP (RoIP)) within committed timelines.
  • You will be primarily working in C++ but may also use other languages as needed.
  • In addition to new development, you will be engaging with our customer support team to address customer issues.
  • Will be working in an Agile/Scrum environment and use current software development practices such as unit testing, code reviews and continuous integration.
  • Will work within our existing development framework, we also hope that you will bring new ideas and ways to work to the table and help the team grow.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or related fields is required.
  • Minimum Two years related experience.
  • Proficient in C++, including advanced knowledge of modern language features and libraries such as STL and Boost
  • Understanding of modern object-oriented design and architecture
  • Working knowledge of FreeBSD, Linux, or other Unix environments
  • Familiarity with IP/Networking concepts and programming
  • Strong computer science fundamentals: data structures, design patterns, and algorithms
