Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Systems Architect in Rochester, NY. You will gather requirements from internal and external stakeholders, including standards documents, to create actionable engineering specifications.

Collaboratively design and document system architectures to meet requirements, integrating hardware, software, system interface, and user interface components. Salary range is $125k–$155k, negotiable based on experience, education, location and other factors.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum eight years related experience in systems engineering.
• Strong understanding of engineering rigor and process.
• Experience with software and UX design principles.
• Experience integrating hardware and software components.

Responsibilities

• Lead full systems engineering lifecycle from requirements to verification.
• Design and document architectures for hardware, software, and UI components.
• Collaborate with hardware, software, and UX/UI teams for integrated solutions.
• Act as technical SME for customer interactions on system requirements and design.
• Develop documentation including system specs, interface control documents, tests.
• Stay current with industry trends and apply best practices.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking a Systems Architect job with a client in Rochester NY. Must hold a Bachelor’s degree Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field to be considered. You will gather and analyze requirements from internal and external stakeholders, including standards documents, to create actionable engineering specifications. Collaboratively design and document system architectures to meet requirements, integrating hardware, software, system interface, and user interface components.

Salary Range: $125k. to $155/k. The salary may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Systems Architect responsibilities include:

• Lead and participate in the full systems engineering lifecycle, from requirements analysis and design through integration, verification, and validation.
• Apply classical engineering principles and rigorous processes to ensure robust, reliable, and maintainable system designs.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including hardware, software, and UX/UI designers, to develop integrated solutions.
• Act as technical point of contact and subject matter expert for customer interactions regarding system requirements and design.
• Architect and design systems with a focus on interoperability, security, reliability, and compliance with industry standards where applicable.
• Develop and review technical documentation, including system specifications, interface control documents, and test plans.
• Support the development and integration of real-time communications systems, ensuring low latency and high reliability.
• Evaluate and implement security best practices, including zero trust architectures and commercial cryptography, to protect sensitive communications.
• Participate in design reviews, risk assessments, and troubleshooting activities.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and industry trends relevant to company’s mission.
• Apply engineering best practices and ensure compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving system-level issues throughout product development and deployment life cycle.
• Prepare clear technical documentation and communicate project status to diverse audiences.
• Drive continuous improvement to products and engineering process by staying current with industry trends and implementing best practices.
• Evaluate and assess multiple design approaches, researching available technologies and products as appropriate.

Desired Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field is required.
• Minimum Eight years related experience.
• Proven experience in systems engineering with a strong understanding of engineering rigor and process.
• Demonstrated knowledge of software and UX design principles.
• Experience working in multidisciplinary teams and integrating hardware and software components.
• Experience with Modular Open Systems Architecture standards such as the Sensor Open Systems Architecture™ (SOSA®) or similar open standards.
• Knowledge of zero trust security models and commercial cryptography.
• Hands-on experience with real-time communications system design and implementation.
• Familiarity with secure communications protocols and standards.
• Experience in defense, public safety, or other mission-critical environments
