Job summary

Amazon Kuiper Manufacturing Enterprises LLC seeks a software engineer to own embedded software for satellite systems. You will design, implement, test, and operate functions from mode management to autonomous control in an embedded Linux/RTOS setting.

You will write code in C/C++/Rust, interface with I2C/I3C/SPI and network protocols, and collaborate with hardware teams to verify and integrate across the satellite payload lifecycle.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture experience on systems.
• Experience programming with at least one software language.

Responsibilities

• Drive design, development, and operation of satellite functions including Mode Management, telemetry, power control, and autonomous capabilities.

Key job responsibilities

In this role, you will drive the design, development, and operation of a variety of key functions such as Mode Management, telemetry, power control, hardware interfaces, and autonomous capabilities for each satellite throughout its lifetime – from launch to de-orbit.

In This Role, You Will

Own unique embedded software functions through design, implementation (in C, C++, RUST or other), test, and integration in an embedded Linux or real-time operating system (RTOS) environment.

Write software to interact with devices/electronics using I2C, I3C, SPI, RS-422, RS-485, Ethernet, etc. communications.

Work closely with hardware teams for setup and verification, as well as integration and testing.

Follow best practices in high reliability embedded software development to ensure high levels of satellite reliability and availability.

Work on the Satellite Communication Systems Payload.

About The Team

Our team tackles many critical satellite functions including Payload Mode management, command & telemetry, and autonomous control. We are looking for an software engineer to participate in all phases of software development from requirements through implementation and test to operations.

Basic Qualifications

• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one software programming language

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

The base salary range for this position is listed below. Your Amazon package will include sign-on payments and restricted stock units (RSUs). Final compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
