Job summary

Intuitive is seeking an embedded software engineer for the New Product Development Platform Software team in Sunnyvale, CA. You will develop embedded applications and middleware for the Ion endoluminal system, collaborating with hardware, systems, and test teams to deliver robust software across CPUs, GPUs, and FPGAs.

You will work on reusable platform services and APIs, require strong C/C++ on Linux, multi-threading, IPC, and experience with Linux debugging tools.

Qualifications

• Strong programming skills in C/C++ (C++11+), production software
• Experience on Linux or POSIX-based OS
• Understanding of OO design and modular software
• Experience with multi-threaded software and concurrency
• Experience with IPC and client/server architectures
• Experience designing software that manages persistent data
• Understanding data modeling, schemas, transactions, and integrity
• Experience debugging using Linux tools
• Familiarity with TCP/IP networking
• Experience with software CM, code reviews, and testing
• Knowledge of Python or shell scripting
• Strong communication in a cross-functional team

Responsibilities

• Design, implement, test, and maintain C/C++ apps and middleware for embedded Linux
• Develop reusable system services, libraries, and APIs
• Work on configuration, data persistence, diagnostics, and system management
• Implement software for structured data storage and retrieval
• Develop multi-threaded apps with IPC
• Integrate software across CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs and accelerators
• Extend frameworks to support new features
• Participate in API and software design reviews
• Debug across application, OS, and hardware interfaces
• Support integration, verification, and product bring-up
• Contribute to CI/CD and automated tests
