Job summary

Twenty-Six Defense Maritime seeks a Software Engineer I to design and develop software for real-time embedded systems. You will work on projects independently, resolve software issues, and collaborate with engineering teams to optimize equipment utilization.

The role involves coding in C, C++, Python, and LabVIEW, developing test modules, and creating build scripts. Travel may be required; US citizenship and clearance eligibility are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field, or combination of education and experience.
• Minimum 1 year of software development experience.
• Experience with MATLAB is preferred.
• Experience in embedded C/C++ coding is required.
• Familiarity with reading schematics and electronics designs is a plus.
• Knowledge of low-level peripherals (UART, SPI, I2C, I2S, DMA, interrupts).
• Experience with real-time operating systems (FreeRTOS, Micrium uC-OS or equivalent).
• Optional: Electrical/electronic design experience (schematic capture and board layout).

Responsibilities

• Develop software modules in C for real-time embedded systems.
• Create test software modules using C, C++, Python, and/or LabVIEW.
• Develop build automation scripts using Python, Bash, and Windows batch files.
• Participate in software, electronics, and system design reviews.
• Test software with lab instrumentation and file bug reports for defects.
• Support other software engineers in the development process.
• Generate design documentation and test reports.
• May provide training or direction to technicians.
