Job summary

GCS Recruitment is seeking a software engineer to develop and maintain embedded Linux software for aircraft hardware. You will build features for network management, OTA updates, and observability, using C/C++, Python, or similar languages.

You will integrate software across hardware platforms, participate in code reviews and testing, and collaborate with architects, QA, and security teams to ensure robust deployments.

Qualifications

• Must have 3+ years of professional software development experience.
• Must have 2+ years designing or enhancing software systems.
• Experience across the full SDLC.
• Proficiency in at least one language: C++, C, Python, Java, etc.
• Embedded software development (C/C++) or Platform/system software development or Network configuration and troubleshooting.
• Embedded Linux development and networking fundamentals are preferred.
• Docker, Kubernetes, and virtualization technologies are beneficial.
• Python or Bash scripting is a plus.
• OTA deployment and rollback mechanisms knowledge is desirable.
• Security concepts: secure boot, cryptography, threat modeling are valued.
• Aerospace, avionics, or DO-178C exposure is nice to have.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain software on embedded Linux-based aircraft hardware.
• Build features for network management, connectivity monitoring, OTA updates, and observability.
• Develop production-quality software using C/C++, Python, or similar languages.
• Integrate software across hardware platforms using abstraction layers.
• Participate in code reviews, testing, debugging, and deployment activities.
• Work closely with architects, QA, networking, and security teams.
