Job Description

Our platform, Ubuntu, is widely used in enterprise initiatives such as public cloud, data science, AI, engineering innovation, and IoT. Our customers include major public cloud and silicon providers, and industry leaders across sectors. We operate with a global distributed team of over 1000 colleagues in more than 70 countries, with few roles based in offices. Teams meet in person 2-4 times yearly in interesting locations worldwide to align on strategy and execution.

We are hiring a Embedded Linux Field Engineer for Devices/IoT to expand our presence in industries like Automotive, Medical Devices, Industrial Systems, Robotics, and Telco, as well as Consumer Electronics. Ideal candidates are Linux experts, proficient in OS internals, containerization, system debugging, and embedded development. Experience with low-level Linux boot, BIOS, firmware, and embedded software methodologies is essential. This role involves engaging with clients, providing technical solutions, and contributing to project delivery and product development.

Responsibilities include:

  • Engaging customers during presales to gather requirements and explain our technology
  • Elaborating solutions for prospective clients
  • Participating in the delivery of embedded Linux projects
  • Communicating market requirements internally and helping refine solutions
  • Acting as a customer advocate and trusted advisor

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Extensive Linux experience (Debian/Ubuntu preferred)
  • Distribution/Packaging experience (deb, rpm, etc.)
  • Embedded Linux experience (Yocto, Buildroot, etc.)
  • Proficiency in Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust
  • Professional proficiency in English and local language (if applicable)
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Result-oriented with multi-tasking ability
  • Willingness to travel up to 30%

Preferred additional skills:

  • Experience with customer engagements
