Job summary

CACI International is seeking an Embedded Linux Software Developer to support an OpenWrt-based retransmission device and its Alma Linux replacement platform. You will work on Linux image creation, platform integration, and device configuration for secure, scalable networking devices.

The role involves cross-functional collaboration with hardware, cybersecurity, and product teams, plus sustaining and modernizing mission-critical embedded software across the lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related technical discipline.
• Five+ years of professional software development experience.
• At least five years developing for Linux-based systems including embedded Linux.
• Experience with Python, Bash or shell scripting, and C/C++.
• Experience with Linux system configuration, debugging, networking, package management, and deployment.
• Experience with ARM- and/or Intel/x86-based devices.
• Experience with embedded Linux build systems such as OpenWrt, Buildroot, or Yocto.
• Experience with cross-compilation and image creation for embedded targets.
• Experience with Linux networking, routing, DNS, DHCP, firewalling and Wi‑Fi.

Responsibilities

• Develop, integrate, sustain, and debug embedded Linux software for networking devices.
• Contribute to migration of OpenWrt-based solutions to Alma Linux on ARM hardware.
• Collaborate with hardware, cybersecurity, testing, and product teams on secure, reliable systems.
• Create and maintain REST APIs and device-management UIs for config and control.
• Participate in GitLab merge requests, CI/CD maintenance, and reproducible builds.
