Job summary

Jobgether SRL, via a partner company, seeks an Embedded Linux Engineer based in the United States. The role is fully remote and focuses on development, modernization, and sustainment of mission-critical embedded networking devices.

You will work across the software lifecycle, from Linux image creation to networking services, with OpenWrt, Buildroot/Yocto, and ARM hardware migrations, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver robust capabilities for critical missions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS/CE/EE or related technical discipline.
• At least five years of relevant professional software development experience with Linux-based systems.
• Experience with Python, Bash, and C/C++ development.
• Strong knowledge of Linux systems, networking, packaging, and deployment.
• Experience with ARM-based and/or x86 devices.
• Hands-on with OpenWrt/Buildroot/Yocto or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, debug, and maintain Linux-based software for embedded networking and retransmission devices throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Maintain and enhance an OpenWrt-based firmware solution, including image configuration and services.
• Support migration to ARM-based hardware and evolving Linux architecture.
• Develop image-building, packaging, provisioning, deployment, and release workflows.
• Assist with bootloader, kernel, and board-support package integration for embedded targets.
• Build software and automation tools using Python, Bash, C, and C++; support REST APIs and device-management interfaces.
• Create and maintain unit, integration, system, and hardware-in-the-loop tests.
• Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, MR reviews, and reproducible-build practices.
• Support secure software development, vulnerability management, and SBOMs.
