Job summary

SAIC is seeking a Mid-Level Linux Support Administrator/Engineer to design, configure, and maintain Linux-based embedded platforms supporting mission-critical environments. This role is hands-on, focused on building, configuring, and troubleshooting Linux systems for software engineers and operations teams.

The position offers growth into leadership and is 100% on-site at SAIC’s Sterling, VA office, with a clear path to lead subsystems and drive strategic initiatives within the team.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of professional experience supporting Linux or embedded Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Build, configure, and support Linux-based systems using Red Hat and Ubuntu environments, with a focus on Red Hat.
• Assemble hardware and software components into fully operational development systems.
• Install operating systems, load ISOs, configure environments, and bring systems to production-ready state for software developers.
• Configure networking components and resolve connectivity, performance, and system integration issues.
• Troubleshoot hardware/software integration across embedded and Linux platforms.
• Document system configurations, troubleshooting procedures, and support processes.
• Provide diagnostics, root cause analysis, and operational support for field and lab environments.
• Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams and work independently when needed.
