Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Linux Engineer for a full-time, on-site role in Leesburg, VA. The candidate must be able to obtain Top Secret SCI clearance and not require visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities include administering Linux-based production systems, troubleshooting across OS and performance layers, managing LDAP authentication, and building automated integrations and CI/CD pipelines.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Linux administration and systems engineering experience.
• Strong scripting skills with Python, Perl, or Bash for automation.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and version control workflows.

Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and enhance Linux-based production systems.
• Troubleshoot OS, storage, authentication, and performance issues.
• Manage LDAP/S SSD PAM authentication systems.
• Design and build integrations between internal systems and tools.
• Develop automation scripts to streamline workflows.
• Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines (GitLab or similar).
• Reduce manual tasks through automation and process improvements.
• Collaborate with engineering and IT for reliable operations.

Job description

Our client is seeking a highly qualified Linux Engineer for a full time/direct hire position, onsite in Leesburg, VA.

*Must be clearable to a Top Secret SCI Clearance

*Not available to candidates who require visa sponsorship to work in the U.S.

Interview process: Tech screen via MS Teams; one in-person interview in Leesburg

Key Responsibilities

• Administer, maintain, and enhance Linux-based systems in a production environment
• Troubleshoot complex issues across OS, storage, authentication, and system performance layers
• Diagnose and resolve boot issues, filesystem problems, and system-level failures
• Manage and support LDAP-based authentication systems (SSSD/PAM)
• Design and build integrations between internal systems, tools, and services
• Develop scripts and lightweight tooling to automate workflows and connect infrastructure components
• Contribute to and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment workflows (GitLab or similar)
• Reduce manual operational tasks through automation and process improvement
• Collaborate with engineering and IT teams to ensure reliable, scalable system operations
