Job summary

AstroForge is seeking an experienced Embedded Flight Software Engineer to develop and maintain software for our deep-space missions, ensuring reliability and safety while enabling rapid iteration.

The role covers embedded microcontrollers and Linux systems, writing drivers for sensors and actuators, and collaborating with avionics to integrate software across platforms. Candidates should have a strong basis in Rust, C, or C++, and a degree in a related field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Experience in embedded software development, preferably in aerospace or a related field.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as Rust, C, or C++.
• Familiarity with ARM processors and embedded Linux.
• Knowledge of communication protocols such as UART, I2C, and RS422.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain embedded software for microcontroller & embedded Linux systems, ensuring reliability, safety, and performance.
• Write hardware drivers that interface with spacecraft sensors and actuators such as IMUs, reaction wheels, and star trackers.
• Collaborate with the avionics team to integrate software with embedded systems and peripherals.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and documentation.
• Troubleshoot and debug software issues, both independently and as part of a team.
• Adhere to industry standards and best practices for embedded software development.
