Job summary

Blue Origin is seeking an Embedded Software Engineer II for the Blue Ring program to develop and test flight software powering a space vehicle that operates across Earth orbits, the Moon, and beyond.

You will implement software from system specs, perform unit and integration tests, and work with avionics and propulsion engineers to ensure safe, reliable software. Hybrid work supported; relocation is available for qualified candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years of embedded software development experience.
• Proficiency in C++ in resource-constrained embedded environments.
• Experience with Python for tooling, testing, or scripting.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, integrate, and test embedded flight software for the Blue Ring spacecraft, including hardware interface layers.
• Implement software requirements derived from system-level specifications with traceability throughout the lifecycle.
• Develop and execute unit tests, integration tests, and HIL procedures to verify software functionality and performance.
• Collaborate with avionics, systems, and propulsion engineers to define software interfaces and resolve cross-discipline issues.
• Participate in design, code, and peer reviews to ensure quality and adherence to standards.
• Debug and troubleshoot complex software and hardware/software integration issues in lab and test environments.
