Job summary

UEC is seeking a student with a passion for embedded firmware to join our Indianapolis team. You will work on real projects, learning to develop firmware for access control and security devices while exploring system architecture and test methodologies.

You will gain hands-on experience with C and Python, participate in reviews, and collaborate across disciplines. This internship emphasizes growth, mentorship, and practical electronics exposure in a fast-paced product environment.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
• Demonstrated leadership through school, work, extracurricular activities, or projects.
• Coursework in C programming with intermediate proficiency preferred.
• Coursework or foundational knowledge in electronics.
• Strong listening, time management, and problem-solving skills.
• Eagerness to learn, grow, and contribute to impactful projects.

Responsibilities

• Support development of embedded firmware solutions for electronic access control and security products.
• Define and scope firmware requirements, design and document system architecture.
• Develop and test embedded software and integrate firmware into modular systems.
• Learn about electronic locking systems and access control solutions.
• Participate in design and code reviews.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and engage in daily standups, project meetings, and firmware team discussions.
• Build knowledge of basic electronics and laboratory tools such as multimeters, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
• Gain hands‑on experience with programming languages including C and Python, and embedded software testing.
• Apply product development tools like functional block, flow, and state diagrams.
