Job summary

Daktronics in Brookings, SD invites a Firmware/Hardware Design Student to join a hands-on internship developing embedded systems for cutting-edge LED displays. Mentors will guide you as you rotate responsibilities on real projects with defined schedules.

You will gain experience in C, C++, Python, and VHDL/Verilog, using a multimeter and oscilloscope, and you will document designs and test results during the program.

Qualifications

• Enrollment in a Bachelor's degree program in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering (minimum 12 credits).
• Student in sophomore or junior year with GPA preference 3.0 or greater.
• Unofficial transcripts required with application.
• Fluent in English, both written and spoken.

Responsibilities

• Troubleshoot existing designs.
• Assist in manual testing of hardware and software.
• Prototype verification including circuit parameter determination and high-speed measurements.
• Create test reports and document designs, fixtures, and procedures.
• Develop and support applications using C, C++, Python, and/or VHDL/Verilog.
• Leverage AI-assisted tools to accelerate debugging and analysis.
• Complete quality work in a timely manner.
• Work with little supervision and maintain scheduled hours.
