Job summary

Zoox is seeking an embedded software engineer to join the Firmware Body Systems team. You will design, develop, and test embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door functions, integrating supplier subsystems and coordinating with cross-functional engineers to deliver a seamless rider experience.

You will create software requirements, design and test documentation, and contribute to all phases of the software development cycle from prototype to validation, using strong C/C++ skills

Qualifications

• 1+ years of experience developing real-time embedded software for distributed electro-mechanical systems.
• Strong C++/C programming experience and object oriented programming.
• Experience with embedded micro-controllers and/or microprocessors (ARM, PowerPC or equivalent).
• Understanding of various sensors, motors, actuators.
• Hands-on experience with hardware bring-up and system debugging.
• Bonus: basic knowledge of CAN/LIN analysis and debugging tools (PCAN, CANalyzer, CANape).

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test embedded software for body, thermal, lighting, and door functions of the Zoox vehicle.
• Create software requirements, design documentation, test plans, and other supporting documentation.
• Work cross-functionally with vehicle engineers, controls engineers, electrical engineers, validation engineers, and other experts to ensure a seamless and highly-automated experience for the Zoox vehicle.
• Integrate supplier sub-systems into the Zoox software stack.
• Contribute to all phases of the software development cycle including prototyping, requirements capture, design, implementation, and validation.
