Job summary

Daikin Comfort in Greater Houston, TX is seeking an embedded firmware engineer to design and implement software for HVAC equipment such as air handlers, furnaces, thermostats and smart sensors. You will work with advanced thermal and mechanical engineers to translate system requirements into reliable firmware.

Qualifications

• Embedded C/C++ programming for embedded systems.
• Experience with microcontrollers (Microchip, Atmel, ST, Renesas or equivalent).
• Serial communication interfaces (RS-232, I2C, CAN, Modbus).
• Familiarity with software testing and verification techniques.
• Experience with code reviews and QA processes.
• Knowledge of software design patterns and best practices.
• Ability to explain complex technical content and work in cross-functional teams.
• 3–5 years of relevant experience.
• Bachelor’s in Engineering (Computer Engineering focus) required.

Responsibilities

• Develop firmware for consumer HVAC appliances and smart devices.
• Write embedded C code based on state diagrams and flow charts.
• Develop firmware stacks for RS-485 communication.
• Design software architecture and reusable components.
• Conduct bench and lab testing of firmware.
• Translate system requirements into firmware specs.
• Collaborate with hardware engineers for firmware-hardware integration.
• Debug firmware using oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and debuggers.
• Interface with other teams for root-cause analysis and production support.
• Lead equipment repairs and projects with production engineering.
