Job summary

Daikin Applied seeks a Controls Engineer II to design, develop and validate embedded hardware and electrical control systems for HVAC equipment. You will work with cross-functional teams to create robust control sequences, analyze test data, and ensure regulatory compliance during launches and sustaining engineering.

The role is hybrid in Plymouth, MN, with responsibilities spanning analog/digital circuit design, schematics, PCB layouts, and hardware testing using lab equipment.

Qualifications

• BS EE or related field required; Master’s preferred.
• 4+ years in embedded hardware or electrical design.
• Strong analog and digital circuit skills and PCB experience.
• Familiar with EMC/EMI and safety standards.
• Experience with sensors, actuators, and HVAC controls is a plus.
• Ability to work across engineering, manufacturing, and QA teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and implement embedded hardware and electrical controls.
• Create schematics, PCB layouts, BOMs, and docs for production.
• Collaborate with firmware, software, mechanical, and manufacturing teams.
• Perform hardware verification, environmental and reliability testing.
• Analyze test results, perform root-cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
• Support component qualification and lifecycle management.
• Assist with EMC/EMI, safety compliance, and regulatory testing.
