Job summary

Micron Technology in Boise, Idaho seeks an Embedded Firmware Engineer to design and implement software that runs on bare metal, then Linux, interacting with hardware at a low level. You will collaborate with software, electrical, control, and mechanical teams to bring up equipment from concept to production.

The role emphasizes hardware-close debugging, schematics reasoning, lab work, and cross-functional teamwork across multiple global sites.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering.
• Experience in C/C++ and embedded software on bare metal and Linux.
• Ability to read schematics, datasheets, and timing diagrams.
• Experience with Linux and GNU toolchain.
• Experience debugging embedded systems at the signal and register level.
• Experience with hardware interfaces (GPIO, SPI, I2C, UART, PCIe).

Responsibilities

• Design: Develop new and modify existing equipment in cross-discipline design teams.
• Code: Develop in C, C++, Bash, and Python on bare metal and under RHEL-compatible Linux distros in containers.
• Manufacture: Work with New Product Introduction, and Operation teams in the manufacturing of equipment.
• Innovate: Our design team is challenged with projects to keep Micron competitive.
• Support: work to improve existing designs, responding to manufacturing and production support.
• Hands-On Work: Daily hands-on work with electronics, computers, and in-house and third-party equipment in a lab environment.
• Hardware Debug: Debug software-hardware interactions using schematics, datasheets, and lab equipment.
• Collaborate: Work in a cross-discipline design team with Boise, San Jose, Penang, and Hyderabad.
