Job summary
Actalent in Milwaukee, WI seeks an Embedded Firmware Engineer to design, implement, test and support firmware for Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi and cellular connected products. You will work on baremetal and microcontroller-based systems using C++ and contribute across the full lifecycle from architecture to validation.
The role emphasizes hands-on coding, debugging, and collaboration with hardware teams, including STM/STMicroelectronics devices, to deliver reliable, field-ready firmware and post-launch
Qualifications
- Hands-on embedded firmware experience in a professional role.
- Strong C++ programming in embedded/baremetal environments.
- Experience developing microcontroller firmware, preferably with STM/ST devices.
- Experience with baremetal firmware without large operating systems.
- Proven ability to implement substantial portions of production firmware.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement embedded firmware for products using C++ in baremetal microcontroller environments.
- Contribute to firmware architecture and deliver production-quality code.
- Develop firmware for Bluetooth/BLE, WiFi, and cellular connectivity.
- Work with STM devices to build reliable embedded solutions.
- Translate requirements into maintainable firmware functionality.
- Test, debug, and validate firmware to meet product specs.
- Participate in design/code reviews and post-launch bug fixes.
- Support full product lifecycle from development to validation and launch.
