Job summary

Physical Intelligence is seeking an experienced embedded firmware engineer to drive the architecture and implementation of devices used for data collection. You will collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration with data pipelines and optimize power in battery-powered devices.

The role requires hands-on hardware work, strong C++ skills, and experience with real-time embedded systems, SPI/I2C/UART/USB, and kernel-level bring-up. A BS/MS in CS/EE is expected.

Qualifications

  • BS/MS in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience building data pipelines and evaluation frameworks.
  • Hands-on with hardware and embedded systems.
  • Proficiency in C++ and scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Experience leading initiatives from concept to production.
  • Experience with SPI, I2C, UART, USB.
  • Experience concurrent and multithreaded firmware.
  • Embedded Linux bring-up and kernel driver development is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Drive the architecture and implementation of embedded firmware for devices crucial to PI's data collection goals.
  • Collaborate with hardware and software teams to ensure devices integrate with data pipelines.
  • Embedded Linux system bring-up: drivers, BSP, kernel config, hardware bring-up, and performance tuning.
  • Hardware/software debugging using lab equipment to resolve complex issues.
  • Power optimization for battery-operated devices.
