Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking a senior embedded firmware leader to drive the design and optimization of firmware for hardware products. You will work with hardware teams, mentor engineers, and guide multiple projects through all development stages.

Qualifications

• Four-year or graduate degree in CS, IS, EE, or related discipline.
• 7–10 years of firmware development or related field.
• Proficiency with Agile methodologies.
• Strong knowledge of C and C++ programming.
• Experience with Linux, Git, and RTOS.
• Embedded software/firmware development experience.

• Lead the design, development, and optimization of embedded software and firmware for hardware products
• Identify and resolve software and firmware issues with timely and effective solutions
• Create and update technical documentation, including design specifications, code comments, and user guides
• Prepare and create instructional technical manuscripts for firmware operation
• Allocate resources to programming projects and design detailed plans to ensure firmware functions properly
• Lead multiple project teams and internal and outsourced development partners through all stages of complex product and platform design and development
• Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced firmware development partners
• Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards
• Provide feedback to improve product quality and mitigate failure risk
• Provide domain-specific expertise and firmware leadership to cross‑organization projects, programs, and activities
• Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate and enable communication between hardware and firmware components
• Specify and document communication protocols, system states, and feature requirements with firmware and software teams
• Drive innovation and integrate new technologies into firmware design projects
• Mentor less‑experienced software firmware engineers
• Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends in embedded systems and firmware development

Requirements

• Four‑year or Graduate Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline, or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence
