Job summary

Jobtailor seeks an experienced firmware/system architect to lead end‑to‑end embedded software efforts for complex platforms. You will drive design, coding, testing, and integration across teams, ensuring high performance and robust security firmware across BIOS/UEFI and embedded Linux environments.

The role requires mentoring staff, coordinating with hardware partners, and advancing validation plans for new technologies in a fast‑paced environment.

Qualifications

Bachelor's in computer science, information systems, or related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence
Typically has 7-10 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field
8+ years firmware development / architecture experience
BIOS / UEFI / Embedded Systems
Docking Station and Notebook PC architecture
USB-C / Power Delivery
USB, PCIe, I2C
Security firmware experience
ODM collaboration experience

Responsibilities

Oversee the installation, configuration, testing and maintenance of operating systems, application software, and system management tools
Monitor and test application performance, identify bottlenecks and solutions, and work with developers to implement fixes
Optimize software systems for performance, scalability, and resource efficiency
Gather system engineering requirements for infrastructure components with engineering groups and stakeholders
Lead multiple project teams through design and development of complex products and platforms, including solution design, analysis, coding, testing, and integration
Manage and expand relationships with internal and outsourced development partners
Review and evaluate designs and project activities for compliance with systems design and development guidelines and standards
Provide domain‑specific expertise and software systems leadership to cross‑organization projects, programs, and activities
Drive innovation and integration of new technologies into projects
Provide guidance and mentoring to less‑experienced staff members
Provide guidance on developing validation execution plans for new technologies
