Job summary

CFD Research Corporation seeks a highly capable Electrical Engineer specializing in embedded hardware design for aerospace and military systems. You will architect and implement advanced electronic hardware, study interfaces, and ensure reliability under AS9100 and MIL standards.

The role involves hands-on design, collaboration with firmware teams, and wire harness/interface work, with onsite postings in Dayton or Huntsville as primary locations.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical Engineering.
• Strong understanding of microcontroller based hardware design and power distribution.
• Experience designing multilayer PCBs with signal integrity and EMI/ESD considerations.
• Proficiency with schematic capture and layout tools.
• Knowledge of high/low speed interfaces and electrical requirements.
• Familiarity with aerospace/military documentation and workflows.
• Experience with lab equipment for testing and verification.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and development of embedded electronic circuits based on MCUs and mixed-signal components.
• Architect and implement communication interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, RS485, Ethernet, USB).
• Guide multilayer PCB layout for signal integrity and manufacturability.
• Use SPICE tools for circuit simulation and validation.
• Implement EMI/ESD controls aligned with mil spec requirements.
• Produce engineering documentation per AS9100 quality standards.
• Support compliance per MIL/AS9100 standards and qualification.
• Conduct design reviews and debug hardware issues; perform root cause analyses.
• Collaborate with embedded firmware engineers for HW/SW integration.
• Support wire harness design and electrical interface documentation.
• Interface with mechanical teams; occasional SolidWorks for enclosure interfaces.
