Job summary

Actalent seeks an embedded Diagnostics Software Engineer to design and validate Linux-based diagnostics for networking hardware in Austin. You will implement drivers, work with BSPs, and test high-speed interfaces in a lab environment.

The role focuses on C/C++ development, debugging, and collaboration with ASIC/hardware teams to ensure robust diagnostics across Ethernet, PCIe, SSDs, and storage devices.

Qualifications

• BS in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 2+ years of embedded C experience.
• Strong C/C++ in Linux environments.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain embedded diagnostics software in Linux using C and C++.
• Develop and validate diagnostic test suites for hardware functionality.
• Assist in hardware bring-up and validation of boards.
• Develop and debug low-level device drivers for interfaces like I2C, PCIe, SPI, MDIO.
• Work with BSPs, bootloaders, and system init software.
• Test Ethernet, PHYs, SSDs, and high-speed components in lab.
• Collaborate with ASIC and hardware teams on diagnostics requirements.
• Coordinate with vendors for hardware testing and issue resolution.
• Apply TCP/IP and Layer 2/3 networking knowledge to diagnostics.
• Document designs, test procedures, and troubleshooting steps.
