Job summary

Redpanda Data in the United Kingdom is seeking a Forward Deployed Engineer to embed with strategic customers, write production-grade agents, and build integrations that run inside the customer environment. You will own the technical deliverable from design to handoff.

This hands-on role requires adapting to new codebases, training customer teams, and delivering reliable deployments. Expect 30–50% travel on-site during engagements; we operate remote-first and prioritize practical, end-to-end

Qualifications

• You write production software and have built backend systems, data pipelines, APIs, or agent systems that ran in production.
• You have built agents or integrations between complex systems and worked with LLM APIs.
• You can read unfamiliar code and extend it without breaking it in various environments.
• You communicate clearly with customers’ engineering teams and are a credible technical partner.
• You have shipped at a customer site or deployment context and understand live production needs.

Responsibilities

• Build at the customer site: write production-quality agents and data pipelines inside the customer environment.
• Work in unfamiliar territory: ramp quickly, orient to existing code, build without breaking.
• Own the technical deliverable: design, implement, and hand off cleanly, documented and maintainable.
• Be the technical voice with the customer’s engineers and ensure integration with existing systems.
• Drive toward exit from day one: document, train, and hand off to the customer team.
• Feed learnings back to Product and Engineering to influence future work.
