Job summary

Jobtailor in Illinois is seeking an embedded software engineer to contribute to USB-based audio platform firmware. You will write C/C++ code, work with DSP and hardware teams, and help diagnose field issues while developing new features.

Applicants should be pursuing a BS in CS/CE/EE, have C/C++ experience, and be comfortable with Python scripting. Authorization to work in the US is required; visa sponsorship is not offered.

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field
• Must have experience programming in C/C++
• Experience with Python and ARM assembly language a plus
• Experience with communication protocols including USB, I2S, I2C, UART a plus
• Experience with real-time operating systems and embedded hardware/microcontrollers a plus
• Experience reading hardware schematics and product datasheets a plus
• Recommended to have taken a lab based embedded design/robotics/programming course
• Familiarity with programming and debugging microcontrollers
• Must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis

Responsibilities

• Become familiar with the USB protocol stack and implementation
• Help develop new embedded audio platform functionality
• Help diagnose and root cause field issues and bugs
• Develop new features and update code in C/C++
• Develop scripts, testing frameworks, and utility code in C/Python
• Participate in code and requirements reviews
• Work with DSP, systems engineering, and hardware engineering teams to facilitate development and understanding
• Assist with maintaining and developing embedded audio platform firmware and USB-based microphone and conferencing ecosystem
• Analyze field issues and collaborate across divisions to develop new features and designs
